[He can practically hear those quotation marks, and while it rubs him the wrong way, it's whatever. He's not ten years old anymore, hiding to cry because Tang made him feel stupid. He's no super genius, but he can be confident about this at least. Exploration is his area of expertise.]
If you have a better plan then feel free to throw it out there whenever.
[Dys shrugs and keeps moving, letting the alien guy take the lead. He turns his own map back off for now so they're not both distracted with their noses in it, and turns his attention outward instead. Sound echoes like crazy down these metal corridors. It's hard to pick it out over their own pounding footsteps, and there's ambient noise to sift through as well – the creaking of decrepit structures, the thrum of utilities running beneath everything – but there are other things moving through these halls as well.
It's probably not the best to add to the noise with chatter while he's trying to listen for threats. And it's not like Dys has ever been the chatty type, especially with strangers. But as they move, without the imminent threat of monsters right behind them now, it's hard to ignore the curiosity brimming up again. There's an alien just ahead of him, new and unlike either of the two whole sentient xenos he's previously encountered.]
So. Are you, uh...a Gardener?
[It's a reasonable guess, if they're still on Vertumna. Gardeners seemed to come in all kinds of forms, and Sym had a similar kind of "a little to the left of human" vibe.
Though...he doesn't even know if they're on Vertumna right now. It's a chilling thought. Certainly, none of this looks familiar. But the colony had only explored areas surrounding it, and there was a whole planet. It's not impossible to think this city is somewhere on it, maybe another remnant of the planet's previous civilization. And the alternative is that this isn't Vertumna, and that's...a lot to grapple with right now.]
