Sliding through the opening, he ducks to the side and grabs the metal of the door, waiting only long enough for the alien to cross the threshold before slamming it shut. His hands hurriedly skim the surface of it for a moment before he finds a handle he hopes is a locking mechanism and throws it down.]

The room has several other exits, just as much potential alternate routes for those creatures as for them.
